I live in an area where we have a big majority of elderly drivers. They should be tested yearly at a reduced rate. There have been occurrences when I have had to move to another lane such as the median to avoid an accident. Their ability to respond is not as swift as the younger driver.

There should be a periodic drivers test every few years for *every* driver. Some younger drivers should have their skills checked, based on maneuvers that I see every day.

Each person is different. I do think they need to have to renew more frequently because their health status may change. Six years is a long time when you are in your eighties.

As long as they can pass a driving test and vision test and keep to the speed limits.

I think a driving test each year after a certain age wouldn't be such a bad thing. I think eye and hearing exams should be mandantory also.

I don't think it's fair to say that all elderly individuals should stop driving - some are terrible drivers and some drive great (as is the case with any age group), but I do think that they should be tested more frequently

Elderly people should have the same rights as young people as long as they are capable of driving. After all if we are all lucky enough, we will be elderly one day as well.

Most of the bad and dangerous drivers that I see on the road are not elderly. Older persons are also less likely to be texting and talking on their cell phones while driving than younger people. People often say that elderly persons drive 'too slowly.' In my experience, elderly people tend to obey the speed limit, while younger persons often do not. So, the appearance of driving too slowly may be skewed because we have to ask: How fast, relative to the speed limit, is everyone else driving? In Asheville, everyone drives so terribly that terrible driving has become the norm. If you visit, don't try to follow traffic rules and expect others to do the same: It's backwards world here.

Maybe we should all be limited to daylight hours. I'm more concerned about the "texters". Whenever I see someone weaving about, they are usually texting or playing with a phone.
